Jess is like any Brooklynite comedy writer/mom to two young kids – totally on top of things and always sarcastic. The only trouble? Her sardonic wit hides a secret – she’s lost the ability to feel joy in her day-to-day moments. Desperate to make a change for herself and her family, Jess steps WAY outside her comfort zone. She follows the advice of her hippy dippy best friend... and (although she’s never tried drugs in her life) she nervously signs up for a “plant medicine ceremony” – where she’ll take psilocybin mushrooms in a suburban backyard with a group of eccentric weirdos she never wants to see again.
The Ceremony is a darkly comedic and daringly honest one-woman show— expect a lot of swear words, laughs, plant-based hallucinations – and an unexpected journey towards gratitude.
