When 19-year-old Erin wakes up in the afterlife, she expects answers about her tragic death and superlatively shitty life. Instead of heaven or hell, she lands in the universe’s Moral Accounting department—an overstaffed corporate bureaucracy where consequences are processed, punishments are calculated, and moral balance is reduced to paperwork.
There she meets Karma, the sharp-tongued “head bitch in charge” responsible for ensuring every action has an equal and opposite reaction. But the more Erin hears about how her life was assessed by Karma’s cruel, arbitrary rules, the more confused and furious she becomes.
So Karma makes her an offer: take the desk and try to do better.
In this sharp, irreverent dark comedy, Erin’s attempt to rewrite justice reveals that deciding who deserves divine reward versus punishment is far more complicated—and more dangerous—than she ever imagined. With colleagues like Luck and Nature only adding to the confusion, can she alone make the right calls?
