Welcome to "Sightings," a late-night public access TV show dedicated to reporting UFO encounters. It's the late 1980s in rural Midwest, and Shawn --a burned-out ufologist—spends her nights fielding calls from Believers eager to share their sightings and their lives.

Shawn has never had an encounter herself. After years on the air, her certainty is slipping into doubt. Queer and closeted in a small town, she clings to the idea that somewhere out there, something beautiful—and accepting—might be waiting.

But tonight, everything is about to change. A strange voice calls in -- someone who knows secret things about Shawn's life, things no other person should know. When Shawn tries to move on from this strange experience, the phones begin ringing off the hook with UFO sightings across the region.

And all of them point to mysterious crafts, heading straight for Shawn's location. As things escalate, Shawn leans into the frenzy, allowing herself to reach out and see what reaches back.
